Due to the fact that I will be making a magazine review for my short film, I decided to research and look at professional magazine reviews. Above, I have created a collage of magazine film reviews which I can use for inspiration. A majority of these film reviews are for feature length films as I struggled to find a professional review for a short film. This shows me that short films are still not very mainstream and therefore do not really get reviewed in magazines. Although online there have been some found. This is due to the advancement of technology and below the line marketing in this generation as there are many reviews and promotions via. the internet compared to on tv and even on the street (i.e. posters and on buses). I find this to be very true as I never read reviews from magazines and rather look at online reviews from the likes of the guardian, rotten tomatoes etc. Additionally, youtube has become a big factor in reviewing films as people are able to edit and create their own content related to a review. This makes the reviews more interesting to watch compares to reading and looking at pictures, especially for younger audeinces.

In terms of my short film review, I want to stick to the meaning behind short films and make my layout unique, interesting and out of the norm, althought, I would still like to keep the traditional format of the film. I really like the layout for the twilight magazine review (In the collage above) as they  used an imge from the film and wrote the review over it. This is something I would like to do as I think it makes the page look alot more interesting and would attract more attention. Additionally, I like how in somereviews, there is a small segment before the review starts which states the director, actors, age rating etc. I have gained lots of inspiration from my research and learned about how to structure the layout of the review.
