Character Profiles

Due to a low budget, I cannot hire actors, therefore I would need to be realistic with my choise of chacters and the number of them. Additionally, I want therer to be a minimal ammount of characters to convey a sense of isolation. My plan is to only include two characters to keep it simple. This would benefit me as I would not have to rely on friends who might turn up late or back out with short notice prior to filming. Additionally, My plan for location is in Harlow, Essex, where my sister lives with her family. This is good as I can use myself/my family to act, traveling wouldnt be too much of an issue and the location would be different to other peoples.
The Main character is an un-named Male(My film will be a silmlent film with no dialogue) in his late teens. I decided to do this as it is similar to my target audience's age group, therefore they would be able to relate more with the character on his journey.
I want this character to be portrayed as Lonely, isolated and in a state of depresson. The main genre of my film is Horror/Thriller therefore there wont be a huge emphasis on characterisation and i want my short film to have an open ending, similar to the form of other short films as they are meant to be experimental, poetic and meaningful. Lettig the audience think for themselves allows them to interpret things how they want to.
This character will be identifyable by his bright colored t-shirts, which will contrast the cool toned background and foreground. I want the colours of his costume to represent and foreshadow his feelings.
The second character will be a young girl, aged 5-8. I want her to be portrayed as innocent and naive. I want her to be wering a dress with the colour red being emphasised on her dress and in a hair bow. This will represent and forebode danger and death. This character will be played by my niece.
