Film Poster Planning

I am going to use the Evil Dead's poster for inspiration by the use of bright block colours, This is to link to my hybrid genre as the brighter colours would tell my audience that my film isnt just a dark horror/thriller. I plan to have a portrait of myself being surrounded by a block blue colour (like the image on the left) this would represent water/drowning. On the top quater of the poster, i will use block red paint, this is to show the earth being above water and representing danger.
I am also gaining inspiration from Sin City's graphic novel style. this uses block black colour for shadows, which would work well with the block blue colour surrounding the character on my poster. I plan to draw an image of my photoshoot in this style.

Here are my pictures from my poster photoshoot. I am happy with the quality of the images and I think they will be very easy to draw. I am going to use a fine liner/felt tip pen to write the title of the film, however, I have noticed that in alot of short films there is no age rating etc. so I have decided to keep my poster simple and intriguing by having it quite plain.

This is my poster, I kept it similar to how I planned it although I changed small things such as having the paint drip down the face. Overall I am happy with the poster although I wish I was better as writing fonts as the title is not completely neat.

To keep in line with the 80's horror theme feel I have kept the main focus of the poster being the hand painted image whilst manipulating the image by blurring. I have also added insititutional information to ensure my poster is effective as part of the distribution process. I have also submitted by film to the E17 International Film Festival so they have allowed me to use their logo on my poster.
